Classes Fall 2011

Beginner Printmaking Weekend

October 15th & 16th, Sat & Sun

10:00am—3:00pm

This intensive two day course will be an exciting introduction to basic printmaking techniques that can be continued at home without the need of a printing press. Students will try their hand at many different print processes such as monoprint, collograph, drypoint and linocut.  Paper and colour registration, inking techniques, editioning guidelines and basic concepts regarding line, shape and pattern will be covered. 

All materials will be supplied.  Lunch and coffee/tea breaks will also be provided.

Cost: $250    Register early, Max 4 people.

Colour Theory Classes

October 30th, Sun

November 19th, Sat

9:00am—12:30pm

Offered twice this fall, the Colour Theory class is set up to help artists in all painterly media achieve a better understanding of the pigment and binder characteristics of their paint.  Different pigments will be broken down into different but easily understandable categories so that painters never have guess whether a particular tube of paint will produce the mix they are looking for.  Students will leave with a variety of painted exercises that they can reference at home and in the studio. Light refreshments will be provided.

Cost: $110 (+$40 material fee) Register early,

Max 4 people.

Materials List: If necessary, a list will be provided at time of registration.

Registration: Students are advised to register early as classes fill quickly and space is limited.

A deposit of 50% of the course fee is required upon registration, with the balance of the course fee due at the first class.

The deposit can be mailed to: 24735 54^th Ave Langley BC V2Z 1C3 or dropped off if notification is given.

Withdrawals: With more than two weeks notice, total registration costs will be refunded. With less than two weeks notice, registration costs will be refunded minus a fee of $50.

Cancellations: Courses may occasionally be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen reasons. Should a course be cancelled, a full refund or credit for another course will be given.

Aug 2 - 5 2011 - Summer Printmaking Days at the Burnaby  Art Gallery

I taught children's art classes at the Burnaby Art Gallery this summer.

"Students look at works from the City of Burnaby Permanent Collection focusing on different printmaking techniques and skills while further developing composition, drawing skills and colour theory.  They use the gallery’s press to create single colour relief prints, embossing collage, chine colle and painterly mono-prints."

April 2011 - UFV Grad Show invite

Whew, what an event! I had three different pieces in the exhibition including an installation, digital prints and a large (9'x12') acrylic painting.
